HapticLocalization

Through my research supported by Hyundai Motor Group, I have developed a haptic system for communicating the location of invisible target objects using vibrotactile gloves in virtual reality. This system has applications in creating assistive technology for people with visual impairments, and conducting research on perceptual learning. I ran an IRB approved study (n=54) that compares the effect of different spatial-to-haptic mappings on localization performance with invisible targets and measures of distal attribution.
